About the Poem

I created this poem in 2018 based off the soundtrack of the 2016 Trolls cartoon movie for my daughter Zoey’s Trolls-themed 6th birthday. It was epic, especially since her whole class and friends and family came to the local trampoline park. Nobody really read the poem I posted, lol, too much going on, but I had so much fun listening the soundtrack and choosing the words and theme of the poem. I hope you enjoy it!

Trolls Lyrics Letter to Zoey on Her 6th Birthday

Before you were here

I couldn’t stop this feeling

Inside my bones

like I had sunshine in my pocket

I found out I wasn’t dreaming

There was a beautiful soul inside of me

Then you were here

Like the sun after rain

Ready to shin

You were cooler than a pack of peppermints

Ready to take on anything

As you grew

I could see it in your eyes and

I could see it in your smile

You’re all I ever wanted

And my arms opened wide

‘Cause you know just what to say

And you know just what to do

And I want to tell you so much

I love you

If ever there is darkness inside you

That makes you feel so small

Or like its us against the world

Just remember

I’ll be here when you call

Sometimes we forget

Love chases the clouds away

Open your shining heart

When the sky is looking gray

So you can show your true colors

Shining through

Don’t be afraid to let them show

Because your true colors are beautiful

Like a rainbow

And that’s why I love you

You could make everybody feel united

When you’re confidence is soaring

Riding on a rainbow

Nothing can get in your way

And if you get knocked down

You are gonna get back up again

With your love outpouring

Today you are six

You wake up with all this sunlight

You don’t have time to let anything darken your day

You waited so long to catch this feeling

Hold onto it as long as you can
